If I eat another cupcake this month, stab me.

Saturday I woke up about 11, went biking (17 miles), then drove downtown to the Cupcake Smackdown 1.0. A while back, Jennie asked me to help judge. Awesome, I thought. Who wouldn’t want to judge a bunch of cupcakes? Deliciousness in a cute wrapper. It’s the Fay Wray of the food world, cute little bites of sexy deliciousness waiting to be devoured. Naturally, I agreed.

Today, a full two days later, let me give you a word of warning when she approaches you next year to do this:

SAY NO.

21 samples of cupcakes later, though, I was overstuffed.
My co-judges were overstuffed.
These dogs were overstuffed, and they just sat and watched:

We did our best and it was barely enough.

(more on tasting these later when I manage to type that thought process out)

After I struggled through, I got to enjoy some of the rest of the sights and stuff going on. Several vendors brought some beautiful displays of deliciousness:

And there was a cutest cupcake contest I didn’t get a chance to vote on, but had a wall of cute just waiting to be seen:

After the dog eating contest, there was a human cupcake eating contest as well–pretty fun and sort of silly, but still kind of gross after having eaten my five.

I don’t know how the winner (Chris ?) got 20+ down. Good job, though.

Winner (or I surrender?)

Kudos to Misohungrynow, one2one bar, and all the people who submitted cupcakes to my highly refined palette!
